Starship Sunday: Nebula

Edit
An official version of this ship is available in the Command Division sourcebook.

Welcome to Starship Sunday, presenting a new spaceframe for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying game, filling in some gaps until official material can be released.

In September, Starship Sundays is focusing on a few key ships from The Next Generation era. Wrapping up the month is the sister-class of the famous Galaxy-class of starship, the Nebula-class.

The Nebula-class was one of the destroyed “Frankenstein class” vessels kitbashed together for the wreckage following the Battle of Wolf 359 during the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The Best of Both Worlds, Part II . Unlike some of those designs – which were never seen again – the Nebula-class reappeared in the episode The Wounded, and vessels of that class made repeated appearances on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Because it copies the saucer section of Galaxy-class starships, the Nebula-class is instantly recognisable as a modern design and an advanced starship without directly using the same type of ship as the U.S.S. Enterprise. The ship is also used for scientific and exploratory missions, allowing for stories similar to that of existing shows, but also campaigns focused on solving spacial mysteries and investigating anomalies.

    1. Honestly, I can’t remember my thinking. If this was on purpose or an artifact from an earlier ship.

I *might* have been trying to differentiate the Nebula, suggesting they’re just less powerful than a Galaxy-class. That, as a science vessel, it would have less powerful tractor beams than a multi-purpose vessel.
But it’s probably just an oversight. Regardless, it’s distracting and should probably be fixed the next chance I’m updating files.

      Thanks for commenting!
