Beginning a new series of articles here at Continuing Mission, Featured Crew articles will spotlight familiar characters not currently covered by official stats. Each such article will typically feature a Major NPC version of the character, as well as a playable Main Character version that you can hand out to a player for immediate play (such as for a demo or convention game). On the whole, the NPC versions may (but not always) have 3 extra Attribute points, and some Special Rules reflecting a unique aspect of the character. The playable Main Character versions will draw from the Core Rulebook Talents, to facilitate the learning of basic rules for new players. For advanced players, the GM may decide to let them to swap out the Talents on a one-to-one basis for the Special Rules from the Major NPC version.
These will by default be 2371 versions of the characters, but you are free to tweak the stats and history as needed to reflect other eras. Occasionally, we may also profile characters from other eras.
Today we look at Doctor Katherine Pulaski, who appeared in Season Two of Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was the Chief Medical Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise in 2365. Known for her stubborn nature, she had an intense dislike of transporters, using them only when absolutely necessary. She is a skilled surgeon unafraid to take risks, and is a proponent of traditional remedies alongside technological ones. She was divorced three times and was romantically involved with Kyle Riker.
As Pulaski never re-appeared on-screen again, she could be introduced in any new location easily as a Chief Medical Officer or researcher.
