‘Tis the season for some Carols! Carol Marcus has appeared in two continuities: the Movie Era movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and in the Kelvin timeline movie Star Trek Into Darkness.
The first time we meet Doctor Carol Marcus is as the lead scientist on Project Genesis, specializing in molecular biology. Much of what happened in the Movie Era was a domino effect from her attempt to create life from nothing. What she knows of the dangerous Genesis Effect makes her a target for those that seek power.
The second time we meet Lieutenant Carol Wallace Marcus is in the Kelvin Timeline, where she crosses paths with Khan in an altogether different manner. She is an applied physicist with a specialization in advanced weaponry in this reality, and ends up joining the crew of the Enterprise.
You can use the stats for the two Carol Marcuses here in a variety of ways:
- as a PC during the Movie Era,
- as a NPC with dangerous knowledge of the Genesis Effect targeted by unscrupulous people (perhaps mounting your own version of the Genesis Wave storyline),
- as a PC in the Kelvin timeline,
- as a PC in TOS, and assuming that her younger self in the TOS timeline is fairly similar to her Kelvin timeline incarnation.
