Hello and welcome to another addition to Tuesdays at Quark’s! This is the last regular update, at least for the time being, and I tried to make it something special. This NPC is pretty customizable and they can fit into any campaign and any crew. I’m stretching the Love Interest theme to accommodate something that’s possibly even more personal: a younger sibling.
This character has the last name “Nash” but that’s really just a placeholder. If you need a surname for them there it is, but otherwise feel to change it and even to change their species (just requires a change in Traits). It’s rough to have a complicated character like this as a significant other but as a sibling it’s ten times as complex. This little brother or sister is on the wrong side of things and you can’t just dismiss them or destroy them. Even simple plots become complex, and that’s what I’m after here at Tuesdays at Quark’s.
There are a lot of different directions to take this character but here are a few plot hooks to get you started.
- When an away mission leads to the capture of a band of criminals breaking into the administrative center of a Federation colony, one of the bridge crew is shocked to see their younger sibling Sam amongst them. Things because even more complicated, though, when Sam insists that the criminals’ mission was to stop a worse crime from taking place. Can they believe them?
- A chance meeting at a Federation starbase leads to Sam joining their sibling onboard the crew’s starship. It’s just a short trip back to their family home but when things begin to go missing around the ship, suspicion immediately falls on Sam. They insist they aren’t involved, though, and then things start to get weirder…
- In the middle of the night, one of the bridge crew gets a subspace message from an encrypted source. The Orion Syndicate warns that if they do not turn over sensitive Starfleet information they will kill Sam. Obviously this isn’t an option but how can they save their sibling?
