Captain Durell has a long and distinguished career in Starfleet. Her reputation as a diplomat and arbitrator is almost unparalleled. Raised on earth to parents who encouraged her artistic and creative nature, she excelled in her schoolwork, becoming captain of her debate team in secondary school, before enrolling in Starfleet Academy as part of the Command Track. During her career, she has been decorated thirteen times for various meritorious actions. During her career she has been headfast and outspoken, even once going so far as to call out a superior officer for gross violation and dereliction of duty. As a Commanding Officer aboard the USS Cain, she was the leader of an away team during the First Contact with the Zanra, a race of beings whose primary method of communication was through music and prose. Seven years ago, she took command of the USS Ginsburg and was tasked with follow up second contacts with civilizations in the newly explored reaches of the Beta Quadrant.
