Title Sequence: Star Trek Timelines, Intrepid Class

I’m exploring some ways of creating quick title sequences that can be used for a campaign. I’ve done some already using Dreams (PS4), but let’s look at some other ways. If you have some skill in basic video editing, it’s possible to grab clips from existing games and stitch them together, for a decent clip.

I built the following with video grabs from Star Trek Timelines, an online game. It’s a game I started playing a few years ago and put down, but had progressed far enough that I had several good ships, including the Intrepid-class. The game itself has a video-recording option, making it easy to record these shots. Each mission takes place in a planetary system from the Star Trek universe, and some of these are really well done. I simply edited the clips together in iMovie.

Cons: It’s a game designed to be played over a long period of time, so it may take a while for you to earn the right ship for your campaign, and not all ships are available in Timelines. I still have many ships I wish I had! So, it’s not for everyone. However, if you are familiar with the game, it may be one source for making a campaign opening sequence.

This sample one is the Intrepid-class. I’ve done this one without sound, but it’s 1 minute long and you can add music as needed. Starry backgrounds where you can overlay your title and other info are added in. You can take this one and make it your own, or create your own clips if you have Star Trek Timelines.

If there’s interest, I might be able to do 1-minute versions of Constitution-class, Defiant-class, Constellation-class, Galaxy-class, Nova-class, and even a Romulan D’deridex version in the future.
