Back With A Roar: Year of the Romulans

RIKER: There’s been no direct contact with the Romulans since the Tomed Incident.
PICARD: The question are, why now? What’s their objective? For fifty years there’s barely a whisper out of them, and now for no apparent reason they seem to be back with a roar.
RIKER: Everything we know about them is based on rumour or conjecture.

Jolan tru. Looking ahead to 2025, Continuing Mission will be taking up the promise of 2E that you can play a non-Federation campaign, and take a deeper look at the Romulans. We will revisit and expand on support for those who wish to run a Romulan campaign or take up arms against the Romulans, for the Second Edition.

The Romulans have appeared in almost all canon series, but still remain enigmatic. There are beta-canon sources that expand upon the Romulans, ranging from novels to rpgs to Star Trek Online. We will endeavour to add options for you and your campaign.

One thing that has always been a barrier to me thinking about a Romulan campaign throughout the years is, while one can run a dark and morally questionable Romulan game, can one run a heroic campaign using Romulans? It seemed unlikely before Star Trek Online and Star Trek: Picard, but with the Hobus Supernova, the fall of the Romulan Star Empire and the rise of the Romulan Free State, there are opportunities for truly heroic Romulans who do not march rank and file to the Empire and the Tal Shiar. We’ll explore a few ways for you to assemble a heroic crew.

Here are a few articles we are working on:

We’ll tag these as #romulan campaign.

What are you excited for, and what would you like to see in 2025 (either Romulan or other)? Let us know in the comments!
