I’m finally back to Star Trek Adventures after years away.
I’m very excited for this campaign. A friend reached out to me and asked me if I was willing to do a once-a-month campaign for him and other players, and I agreed, but as I reached out to players, I told them that part of the game would be the time between sessions, when the players would be doing research on different Trek-related in-universe things, as well as various scientific breakthroughs their characters are interested in.
One player, for example, wants to be a stellar astrophysicist, so she’ll be researching information about stars, the science behind different phenomena, etc. A week before the sessions, without giving context to create spoilers, I’ll give research topics like, “Go ahead and do some research on The Methuselah Star. Then, in that session, she’ll show up as an expert in the field. Everyone has been super excited about this idea.
I’m also utilizing paper minis from David Okum, and terrain from the One Monk Miniatures forum.
I’ve been using the Character Builder to build the Supporting Cast stats, and populating the ship, USS Icarus (NCC-1431), a Magee-Class science vessel. With 80 crew members aboard, I hope that eventually, all the crew members will be filled out for the whole ship.
We’re planning to play once-a-month, so not at a super high speed, but we’ll be playing for longer than we usually do for my One Ring RPG campaign, in order to make sure we can get through a whole mission in a single session and not feel rushed (you’ve gotta have time for the characters to have their Shakespeare plays and trombone solos!)
So, I think this is going really well. I’ll be unfolding more and more of how I’m running this campaign as the weeks go on. We should be starting sometime in April.
I even made a video for the kickoff to the campaign!
Live long and prosper!
