Division XII Datafiles: Anaphasic Life-Forms

Three Cerritos crew members, all under the control of an anaphasic life-form. Centered in the foreground, a large white whale in a blue-and-black Starfleet uniform looms toward the viewer, eyes erupting in bursts of green fire, mouth stretched into a glowing green crescent. Flanking it in the dim, softly blurred background, two women — one in red, one in blue, both in uniform — stare slack-jawed, their eyes lit solid white. At the far right edge, a cropped figure with deep blue skin webbed in glowing cyan circuit lines raises a hand. Green circuit-patterned consoles and a rack of pale whale busts recede behind them.

As Trektober draws to a close, in the spirit of the Halloween season, the mysterious Starfleet agency known as Division XII has taken the unprecedented step of granting you access to one entry of their database that pertains to… spirits?

Not-so-clever word play aside, the database entry has nothing to do with spirits, but rather the incorporeal beings often mistaken for spirits known as Anaphasic Life-Forms. Thanks to Starbase 80’s work with the entity known as Clem, and subsequent technological innovations, Anaphasic Life-Forms have become eligible for Starfleet service. It is Starfleet Command’s hope that this briefing will give the reader a better understanding of these creatures, whose reputation has been burdened both by folklore and by the actions of one of their more powerful individuals.

Datafile Access: Granted

Below you will find the datafile that provides general information about Anaphasic Life-Forms, as well as how this species has been incorporated into the Federation (as a playable species).

Artist Acknowledgments: I want to take a moment and thank the artist that I commissioned for this project, Sibylle Hell. In spite of her packed schedule, she has been kind enough to accept my past commission requests, including several other projects I have submitted to Continuing Mission. She always manages to surprise me with a new take on a character or idea and then visualizes it beautifully. If you’re interested in learning more about her work, please have a look at her Ko-Fi gallery HERE.

I also wanted to thank B.C. Holmes for the incredible work done on the Token section of the unofficial STA Character Creator Tool. I was able to use the tool to make the token for Chief Tusk for this article. If you are not familiar with it have a look HERE.
