The Chandir are a species that has been seen often on Deep Space Nine, but not named in the series. They are sometimes referred to as ‘Tailheads’. They were named in the Star Trek: Titan novel OVER A TORRENT SEA, and the character Tamen Gibruch was a Chandir.

The Chandir’s cranial trunks are usable as a musical instrument or to amplify their voices. They would make a species for a player who wants an alien species that’s semi-established, but leave room for them to develop their own alien culture.
