We’re going to fill out the series of Canon Events that stretch from the first episode of Deep Space 9 to its last episode.

Canon Events are events and repercussions in the established timeline that affect your crew. This often is an improvement or other change that affects your game during specific periods of time (or other timelines or alternate realities your campaign may end up in). You can activate these for use if you are in that timeframe.

One major change is that Canon Event (CE) Milestones have 3 components:

• Traits active during the CE; usually 3, and they are invoked when relevant
• Complication Range indicates what conditions result in a Complication Range increase
• Reconfigurations are special rules active for that period.

We will be updating past Timeline Milestones into Canon Event Milestones as well as adding new Canon Event Milestones.

CANON EVENT MILESTONE: When It Rains… (September 2375-November 2375)

This Canon Event Milestone is The Die Is Cast, which will cover the stretch of time from the episodes of Deep Space Nine titled 7×21 “When It Rains…” and 7×26 “What You Leave Behind”.

This is the final arc for Deep Space Nine, culminating in the final battle between the Dominion and the Alpha Quadrant forces. It’s characterized by the Breen-Dominion Alliance, and the deep involvement of the Cardassian Liberation Front in that victory.

Traits:

• strength of the Breen-Dominion Alliance
• the Cardassian Rebellion
• ruthless Section 31

Complication Range: +1 on all rolls involving politics, espionage, rebellion, and the war

Reconfigurations: During this Canon Event, there is new dread with the Breen joining the side of the Dominion, and all victories come at a high cost. But the Federation must seize the moment and regain the momentum however they can.

Once a Mission, when a Main Character has a re-roll, they may choose instead to set one of the d20s for re-roll to a value of 10 instead of rolling. However, this also automatically creates a Complication that the Gamemaster may impose immediately (or convert to 2 Threat).
