Welcome to Starship Sunday, presenting a new spaceframe for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying game, filling in some gaps until official material can be released.
Ending December’s journey to the alternate Kelvin Timeline created by Nero is the Mayflower-class.
The Mayflower-class was seen in the background of both 2009’s Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. Like the Newton-class, the purpose and true name of the class is unknown. It was literal background filler. Therefore, like the Newton, this blog has some freedom extrapolating the role of the class. The Mayflower lacks a secondary hull but has the familiar “rollbar” seen in other starships (like the Miranda and Soyuz classes). It might serve a similar purpose to the above, serving as a border patrol craft or a large escort ship. It’s comparable in size to the Newton and NX-class, albeit without a secondary hull. (It also seemingly lacks a navigational deflector. But so do the Miranda and Constellation classes, so presumably it makes use of a non-dish variant.)
Like the Newton, the Mayflower could be used to sneakily add extra ships to the expansive unseen era between Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Discovery. The precursor to the Miranda and Constellation ships. This era is an interesting and largely open period, and would be a very interesting setting for a campaign.
