Featured Crew: Ro Laren

Welcome to Maquis Month for Featured Crew.

Ro Laren needs little introduction. A familiar face in the latter seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation, this outspoken Bajoran officer made quite an impact on the crew of the Enterprise-D. Her history in refugee camps shaped her life, and her Starfleet career began disastrously, when she disobeyed orders on a mission to Garon II, resulting in the death of others on her team. Convicted and imprisoned, she would remain there until she was recruited for a mission in 2368. That event led Picard to give her a second chance as a Flight Controller aboard the Enterprise, at the rank of Ensign.

Ro remained aboard the Enterprise until she left to take Advanced Tactical Training classes, graduating in 2370 and attaining the rank of Lieutenant. However, her return to the Enterprise did not last long, as her mission to infiltrate the Maquis showed her where her heart truly belonged. She abandoned her duty to Starfleet and joined the Maquis.

Two versions are provided: one version before she attended Advanced Tactical Training, and another when she returned and joined the Maquis. She would be perfect for a Maquis game. However, if you wish for her to return to Starfleet, this can be accomplished once the Dominion War began, as Starfleet was pardoning Maquis members so that they could join in the fight. This could be the same logic behind other Maquis characters (last seen in prison or not) returning to the Starfleet fold.
