Replicator Resources: More Flight Training—The Riker Maneuver

Since I wrote about the Picard Maneuver, I had to do the Riker Maneuver too. This maneuver is dependent on certain stellar conditions (such as exist in the Briar Patch) as the video below explains:

And in game terms, this would be a linear task:

  • Maximize Storage Capacity of Bussard Collector: This is a Control + Engineering task assisted by ship’s Structure + Engineering with a difficulty of 3. A volatile chemical mix, like highly-unstable metreon gas, needs to be collected into the ship’s ramscoops. Upon filling the storage cells to maximum capacity, the next task can take place.
  • Activate Ship’s Manual Steering Column: This is a Reason + Conn task assisted by ship’s  Engineering + Conn with a difficulty of 0. Any momentum generated can be pooled or wisely used to create an Advantage for the next risky maneuver.
  • Attack Pattern Riker Maneuver (Close Fly By): This is a Daring + Conn task assisted by ship’s Weapons + Conn with a difficulty of 3. A Swift Task is needed (perhaps purchased with Determination) in order to also dump the contents of the Bussard collector in the flight path of the enemy vessel, which is a Control + Engineering task assisted by ship’s Structure + Engineering with a difficulty of 2.
  • Lure Enemy to Fire: This is a Presence + Command task with a difficulty of 3. If successful, the enemy vessel falls for the Riker Maneuver and fires its torpedoes. Immediately upon exiting the torpedo tube, the weapon explodes doing damage to the enemy vessel it was fired from +2CD due to its proximity with the additional effect of Devastating and Piercing if effects are rolled.

All right! That should take care of those dastardly pursuers. That’ll learn ’em!
