Nog needs no introduction for fans of Deep Space Nine. We first meet him as a young, mischievous Ferengi alongside Jake Sisko, and later he voiced his desire to make something out of himself by entering Starfleet Academy. He went from Cadet, to an Ensign in the Engineering Department, to a Lieutenant Junior Grade by the end of the Dominion War. We even see him as a Commander and Captain in an alternate timeline in the episode “The Visitor“. He lost his leg in 2375 during the Siege of AR-558, and obtained a bio-synthetic replacement.
In the beta canon, Cadet Nog was a member of Omega Squad at the Academy. He had many postings: after the Dominion War, he served briefly as Chief of Security aboard DS9. In 2382, Lieutenant Commander Nog served as Chief of Security aboard the U.S.S. Challenger. He became Assistant Chief Engineer of Deep Space 9 in 2384. In the 2390s, he became Chief Engineer of the Enterprise-E, and by the time of Star Trek Online (2410) he is a captain, and in command of the U.S.S. Chimera.
I present three versions of Nog. The earliest version is as a Supporting Character, best for Nog before the Academy and as a Cadet. The second version is as a Main Character, and covers his time as Ensign and Lieutenant Junior Grade best (given his Untapped Potential). The third is a Major NPC version that would work for Nog later in his Starfleet career.
Featured Crew articles spotlight familiar characters not currently covered by official stats. Each article will typically feature a Major NPC version of the character, as well as a playable Main Character version (Core Rulebook compliant, or with fan creations here) that you can hand out to a player for immediate play (such as for a demo or convention game).
