I sometimes have trouble pulling out random names for people and ships out of thin air, and want to actually have cool names, so have created a 2d20 table for randomized names (Romulan, Klingon, and Federation) for characters and starships.
There are many ways to use this, but here’s one way: roll 2d20, and check the top table with the results on one die, and the bottom table with the result on the second die. Use the one that appeals to you most at that moment. Cross out any that you’ve already used, and go with the next closest name if you’ve already used a particular result.
