UTOPIA PLANITIA ADDENDUM 1.0: FEDERATION CLASS DREADNAUGHT

Aaron Pollyea writes, “In this series, Continuing Missions will publish some of the original and side canon starships that I had written up for inclusion in the Utopia Planitia sourcebook that didn’t make the cut. Many of them will be original creations that I designed to help fill in gaps in canon where I felt starships needed to be. Others because they are from beta canon and Star Trek Adventures doesn’t have the rights to use them.” Fair enough!

  1. models of the Federation class show up in Picard Season 3 (the bar scene, alongside “the fat ones” aka galaxy class models), so its at least quasi-canon.

    1. It was already kinda canonized alongside some of the other FJ designs as a ship whose class shows up on displays in the TOS movies

  2. Very interesting.

I’ve been doing a series of videos on Star Trek Adventures spaceframes with the help of my friend on YouTube, Housecoat Gaming. He hosts the vids and provides lore, I make the stats. And we did a video on the Federation-class, here: https://youtu.be/G6EfkT_uaYM?si=VwM2ol6w5mNUwdJy

We may need to do a follow-up vid, discussing this article and the differences between this version and ours.

  3. Very interesting.

I actually came up with my own statblock for the Federation-class, with the help of a friend of mine, and we posted it on YouTube under his account, Housecoat Gaming. If you want to watch it, it is Tethys Shipyard 36, as we have been doing a whole series of these ever since Utopia Planitia came out.

With the introduction of this article, my friend and I might need to do a follow-up vid discussing this article and the differences between our statblocks.

  4. Interesting. Do you have a template for this style of write? The BC Holmes starship creator doesn’t export to a sheet like this where one can write such back story.
