Written by Michael Dismuke

In the mountain’s craggy expanse,

Where Vulcan’s harsh winds blow,

There lived a sehlat brave and grand,

My I-Chaya, my childhood’s glow.

A “fat teddy bear,” my mother said,

A creature fierce yet kind,

With fur so thick, and eyes so wise,

A bond, forever intertwined.

When danger struck with claws so sharp

—A le-matya’s deadly fight—

You stood your ground, my guardian strong,

In Vulcan’s twilight light.

Brown and furry, yet unyielding,

You saved me from my fate,

A life you gave, though yours was lost,

A sacrifice so great.

Brought back from Vulcan’s Forge

Now in the family grounds you lie,

My sehlat dear, my cherished friend,

In memories, you shall not die.

  1. I can hear it in his voice. Very respectful tribute
