Here are two new Career Paths that work well for Romulans, but they can also be taken by others.

Civilian (Dissident)

You’ve devoted your life to activism against your current government, but this has possibly put you under intense scrutiny and in jeopardy. Your dissent may be open or secret. For example, you could be supporting a political movement, such as Unification or the Reman independence movement.

TRAIT: The character gains the trait Known Dissident or Secret Dissident.

VALUE: The character gains a single value, which should reflect some aspect of the character’s beliefs that developed during their fight against the regime. Examples include:

  • I will not abandon my people
  • The dream of unification
  • A government must be moral and just

ATTRIBUTES: The character gains three points, which may be split between two or three attributes (increase three attributes by 1 each, or increase one by 2 and another by 1). At least one of the attributes you increase must be Insight, as a dissident must understand the people they wish to sway.

DEPARTMENTS: You increase your Command by 2, and two other departments by 1. In addition, you may reduce one of your other departments by 1 and add that point to any department not already increased.

FOCUSES: The character chooses three focuses. Examples include:

  • Covert Operations, Cryptography, Diplomacy, Inspiration, Persuasion, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Social Dynamics

TALENT: The character gains a single talent.

Qowat Milat

You’re a member of the Qowat Milat, an all-female group of Romulan warrior nuns. Or, you are trained in the Way of Absolute Candor but not truly a member of the Qowat Milat (e.g., a male protĂ©gĂ© like Elnor). The Way of Absolute Candor teaches that you must communicate emotion without filter between thought and word. They are among the most skilled single-combat fighters, and before attacking, offers their opponents a chance to retreat by saying “Please, friend, choose to live“. They cannot be hired, but a Qowat Milat sister may bind her sword to a single cause as a qalankhkai, or “freeblade”. The cause must be a lost one. They wield swords known as tan qalanq.

TRAIT: The character gains the trait Qowat Milat (female-only) or Trained in the Way of Absolute Candor.

VALUE: The character gains a single value, which should reflect some aspect of the character’s Qowat Milat beliefs. Examples include:

  • Always offer my opponents a chance to live
  • Speak with absolute candor
  • Help those whose causes are lost
  • A promise is a prison

ATTRIBUTES: The character gains three points, which may be split between two or three attributes (increase three attributes by 1 each, or increase one by 2 and another by 1). At least one of the attributes you increase must be Daring, as the Qowat Milat are skilled in combat and do not hesitate.

DEPARTMENTS: You increase your Security by 2, and two other departments by 1. In addition, you may reduce one of your other departments by 1 and add that point to any department not already increased.
