Featured Crew: Solok

Solok

Featured Crew articles spotlight familiar characters not currently covered by official stats. Each article will typically feature a Major NPC version of the character, as well as a playable Main Character version (Core Rulebook compliant) that you can hand out to a player for immediate play (such as for a demo or convention game).

Captain Solok has been a rival of Benjamin Sisko since they were cadets, stemming from an incident where a drunk Sisko was trying to argue logic versus emotion against the smug and very sober Vulcan. Sisko challenged Solok to a wrestling match, and lost spectacularly. Ever since, Solok has written psychology papers about the incident, continuing to embarrass Sisko.

During the Dominion War, he was assigned to captain the ship U.S.S. T’Kumbra, a Nebula-class starship with an all-Vulcan crew. The T’Kumbra spent six months behind enemy lines. Solok earned two Christopher Pike Medals of Valor in his career, the second in 2375.

Also in 2375, Solok arrived at Deep Space Nine to challenge Sisko and his crew to a baseball match in the holosuite. While Solok’s Logicians beat Sisko’s Niners, Sisko’s team turned the defeat into a celebration, confusing the Vulcan.

He may be a challenging PC Captain to play, given his personality, but I present the option here. A Major NPC version is also provided, as he would make a great rival for anyone in the Federation, particularly someone from an ’emotionally-handicapped’ species.
