Chameloids made their first (and only) appearance in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The individual known as “Martia” was encountered by Captain Kirk and Doctor McCoy during their stay in the Klingon Prison Colony on Rura Penthe. Martia was able to assume other humanoid shapes at will, even faking injuries and assuming clothing in the process.
Chameloids are a great species for multiple reasons. As shapeshifters, they’re perfect for Intelligence work, as well as smuggling and “less than legal” pursuits. This same trait also allows Player and GM alike to explore shapeshifting as a topic and theme without having to worry about the difficulties of trying to bring in a Changeling. There still might be some hysteria if you happen to be playing around the events of the Dominion War, but that can be half the fun!

You know since DS9, I’ve always thought of her as one of the 100.
