Continuing our foray into support for Romulan campaigns, here are three Romulan-specific Service Records. However, with the GM’s permission, most of these can be adapted for starships of other civilizations.
In Star Trek Adventures Second Edition, starships each have a Service Record that reflects its life of service. It adds a Trait, and also a Special Rule for the ship. It’s optional: ships may have one service record only, and cannot be swapped out. It is suggested that players work with their GM to create alternative service records as desired.
DISAVOWED
The ship has been disavowed by its government, either no longer recognized as flying under its authority, gone rogue, or in extreme cases, its very existence denied or officially recorded as destroyed. Whether the ship’s actions are sanctioned or not is a matter only the senior crew or captain knows.
ANY KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR ACTIONS: When enemies attempt to discover background information about the ship or its crew, increase the Difficulty of the task by 1.
LOYALIST
The ship is lauded as a vessel whose crew exemplifies unwavering loyalty to its government and doctrine.
ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH: The first time the Rally action (Command major action) is used aboard the ship in a scene, you may re-roll one d20.
TERROR
The ship is a veritable terror in the space lanes. This could arise from a history of violence or crimes, notoriety, or affiliation (such as the Tal Shiar).
DREADED: When the ship assists in creating a trait that reflects or represents intimidation or fear, the first d20 you purchase for that task is free.
