Incident Summary

Shortly after departure and upon achieving warp velocity, one cargo barrel was triggered, releasing a transpatial macrogelatinous life-form into Cargo Bay 2. This organism was concealed within the barrel and activated by transit conditions.

Immediate Effects:

• The visiting Starfleet doctor and Commander Hunter were engulfed within the creature’s gelatinous mass.
• Dr. Jung determined both would be slowly digested if extraction was delayed.
• The creature began expanding at an accelerating rate, threatening structural integrity and access to key ship systems.

Containment Efforts:

• Assistant Chief Garlington deployed emergency force fields to slow expansion. Fields were effective but not entirely successful in halting growth.
• Investigation revealed prisoner Tarah’s agents had placed the booby-trapped barrel aboard prior to departure as leverage for her escape.

Resolution

Through coordinated effort, the crew utilized sonic wave emitters—calibrated by Dr. Jung and Ensign T’Kai—to disrupt the life-form’s structure. The organism was expelled from the vessel without further harm to personnel or ship systems.

Commander Hunter and the visiting doctor were successfully recovered with minimal injury. Cargo integrity was verified post-event, and mission delivery to Andoria was completed without further delay.
