Our latest Star Trek Adventures campaign boldly goes where one of the most underrated corners of Trek lore lives—the “Monster Maroon” era of The Wrath of Khan through The Undiscovered Country. We’re drawing heavily on the FASA RPG history and setting our story in The Triangle, that infamous wedge of space between the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Empire, and the United Federation of Planets.
Welcome to Port Robert April

The campaign’s main crew is assigned command of Port Robert April, a Federation-administered freeport in The Triangle. It’s a bustling hub where merchants, colonists, and even the occasional spy cross paths. The port’s precarious position at the edge of three great powers makes it fertile ground for diplomacy, intrigue, and the occasional bar fight. None of the major players dare send a full fleet here, which has been a blessing—until now.
Rise of the Imperial Klingon States
Dissidents within the Klingon Empire have rallied colonists and outcasts to form the Imperial Klingon States (IKS). Their rhetoric about restoring honor and embracing the “old ways” of the Empire draws plenty of true believers. But in practice? It’s attracting pirates, smugglers, mercenaries, and mutineers who thrive in the chaos. Suddenly, The Triangle feels a lot less stable.
The Call from Foster’s Planet
News of the IKS declaration reaches Outpost Robert April just as a distress call arrives from Foster’s Planet. The struggling mining colony—producing modest amounts of dilithium and duranium—fears they won’t withstand Klingon raiders without help. The Captain of the outpost dispatches the Loki-class courier Hiddleston to evacuate the colonists.

Ambush in the Stars
The crew pulls off a daring rescue, distracting Klingon privateers long enough to beam up the miners. Just as the last colonists arrive safely aboard the Hiddleston, an IKS Bird-of-Prey decloaks and beams a boarding party directly onto the ship. Now the real fight begins—blades, disruptors, and phasers in the tight corridors of a courier-class starship.
A Star Marine Like No Other

Side note: Technical Sgt. Rahk, a Horta serving as a Starfleet Marine, is quickly becoming a fan-favorite NPC. Let’s just say, if you’re a Klingon boarding party charging through a narrow starship corridor… you really don’t want to meet Rahk.
This campaign has been a blast so far. Classic Trek political tension? Check. Klingon rebels? Check. A Federation outpost balancing diplomacy and defense on the frontier? Double check. Stay tuned as we chronicle more of the adventures of Outpost Robert April and its daring crew.
