One of my favorite things about tabletop roleplaying games is how stories grow—not just at a single table, but across a whole community of players and creators who inspire one another. Today, I’m excited to share something special that came out of that shared creative space: a mission brief for Star Trek Adventures Second Edition, set in the post–Dominion War era around 2383.
This mission was originally developed for our monthly Tabletop Journeys Patreon game, where players gather to explore new corners of the Final Frontier and watch their characters’ stories evolve over time. Those adventures often ripple outward, intersecting with our weekly Star Trek Preservations actual play, which airs every Tuesday on YouTube and Spotify. Seeing those threads connect has been one of the great joys of running and producing these games.
What we’re offering here, however, is the original, campaign-agnostic version of that mission brief. While it grew out of ongoing play at our table, it’s been carefully adapted so it can drop cleanly into any Star Trek Adventures campaign. You don’t need our characters, our ships, or our continuity—just a crew ready to explore, make hard choices, and tell meaningful stories together.
We wanted to release this as a year-ending thank you to the wider Star Trek Adventures community. Year after year, you bring creativity, generosity, and thoughtful play to this game, and it continually reminds us why we love being part of this space. From home tables to streamed games, from new GMs to seasoned captains, this community is what makes STA shine.
At its heart, this mission—and this post—is about celebrating collaborative storytelling and highlighting the kind of rich, intentional play that Star Trek Adventures makes possible. Tabletop Journeys exists because of this community, and whenever we get the chance to give something back, we’re grateful to do so.
We hope this mission finds a place at your table and sparks stories you’ll remember long after the dice stop rolling. 🖖
