Most beings in the Star Trek universe can agree on one thing: Space is deadly. Whether it’s tachyon poisoning, gluonic disruption, or being pinned down in a cave by an advancing unit of Jem’Hadar, our players frequently find themselves in the thick of it. When players are out of their league, sometimes they need a lifeline. Who better then to have as an ally than one that can appear out of a mobile emitter!
In honor of the upcoming Star Trek Adventures – Second Edition – Allies and Adversaries Sourcebook, here are the NPC stat blocks for two photonic allies who came through for their crews when they were in a tight spot. Both holograms are presented with the Mobile Emitter talent so they can operate without restriction, but if that doesn’t work for your campaign, feel free to exchange it for something more suited to the mission.
MAESTRO LEONARDO DA VINCI
A source of inspiration for generations of engineers, artists, scientists and scholars, the Human polymath from the 15th and 16th centuries of Earth known as Leonardo da Vinci epitomized the phrase “Renaissance Man.” Not surprisingly, his legacy led to him becoming a popular subject in holodeck programs, where his hologram has advised and entertained many crews, from the humble Cerritos to the legendary starship Voyager.
The da Vinci hologram gained particular prominence as a sounding board and informal peer for Captain Janeway while she was isolated from Starfleet Command, even proving crucial when Voyager once needed to recover their computer core during an act of piracy.

KNICKNAC
Originally a background character in the holo-program Crisis Point II: Paradoxus, Knicknac has come into his own as a favorite among holo enthusiasts throughout the Federation.
Knicknac is an acolyte of the mystical cult of Kit-ty-ha, which draws in all manner of sapient beings seeking answers to the mysteries of the universe. A passionate individual, Knicknac leads with his feelings. This is most evident in his devotion, which is as strong in his friends as it is in his steadfast belief in Kit-ty-ha.
Although quiet and unassuming in his appearance, Knicknac has considerable martial skills. Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner witnessed his combat prowess, immense physical strength, and proclivity with explosives when he busted them out of captivity during the events of the holo-program Crisis Point II.
