Imaal Prasum, Starfleet Tactician

Hello and welcome back to another edition of Tuesdays at Quark’s! Today we’re continuing our look at NPCs for the Sargon Region, the setting for Continuing Mission’s living campaign. With all these crews headed out into the Sargon Region and beyond, I thought it might help to give you an NPC to oversee the whole thing. Presenting, Captain Imaal Prasum!

Imaal Prasum is a Trill who can draw on a his past memories for help with a situation. He also has a lot of command abilities, most of which are abilities and Talents from the Command Division Supplement. If you don’t have that book (which I reviewed here) this character is still immensely useful since he can be a go-between from the PCs to Starfleet Command and a ride-along to provide some extra command power on the bridge. He’s a hands-on sort of flag officer and more than willing to go into the field with an able crew, as long as he can still keep up with his duties.

There are a lot of directions to take this character, but here are a few plot hooks to get you started.

• The ship is met at Star Station Echo by Captain Parsum who has a specific mission for them. Following the events in the Ichtharys System (the events of the Planet of the Ebon Pearl) Starfleet Intelligence has intercepted information that the Obsidian Order might try to come to the system to steal the dark matter energy that Starfleet encountered.
• Captain Parsum is checking out a frontier colony on the border of the Cordon Nebulae and needs transport from the PCs. As they are underway, however, they receive a signal from another Federation starship. Captain Vesena is aboard and has been butting heads with the senior staff. When she’s safely aboard the PCs’ ship she says that the real reason for the transfer from the other ship is that they’ve been compromised by some foreign force.
• A strategic summit is being held at Deep Space Nine and Captain Parsum is traveling there to attend. He wants the Player Characters to transport him there from the Sargon Region, and for them to give a briefing on their experiences in the area. On the way he lets them know that their briefing is very important, as Starfleet wants to pull all ongoing missions to prepare for Dominion aggression. If they want to get to the bottom of what’s going on in the area they need to convince the admiralty that it’s important.
