Featured Starship: U.S.S. Prometheus (NX-59650 / NX-74913)

The U.S.S. Prometheus (NX-59650 / NX-74913) was the first ship of its class, and famously hijacked in the Voyager episode, “Message In A Bottle“. Why two registry numbers? Production errors aside, the in-universe explanation (from Star Trek Communicator) is that it was NX-59650 initially, but after stardate 51461, it was redesignated NX-74913. However, half-way through the change, it was hijacked by the Romulans, which meant the hull remained NX-59650 while all the interior displays read NX-74913.

We know from that episode that one Ship Talent specific to the Prometheus is the Emergency Medical Hologram, Mark II. The EMH was kept for the Star Trek: Prometheus novels set in 2385.

The ship frame used here is based on this Continuing Mission article, and you can read more about the Prometheus class there, and its ability to split into three. This version is for 2374.
