We’re nearing the end of the Orville crew here with Isaac, the hyperintelligent Kaylon who serves as the ship’s science and engineering officer. Patrick Goodman has brought us another great addition that I’m pleased to put up for your enjoyment.
Isaac is an interesting part of the Orville‘s crew, not technically a Planetary Union member but a representative of the Kaylon who is serving onboard to “observe and learn about” the biological members of the crew. Star Trek has more than a few advanced lifeforms who rub elbows with the crew from the Traveler to Guinan and even (arguably) the Founders. In all of these cases, it’s the juxtaposition of the immortal and the human that makes for such an interesting story. In this way Isaac, for all of the silliness he elicits in the series, is one of the most Star Trek parts of The Orville.
