Honoring A Star Trek Fan Legend: Roger Taylor (1970-2022)

“I want my friends in my life, because someday we’re going to wake up and we’re going to find that someone is missing from this circle. On that day, we’re going to mourn, and we shouldn’t have to mourn alone.” Chief O’Brien: “The Sound of Her Voice”, Stardate: 51948.3

Contributed by Carl Stark, Roger’s friend. Extended details available on his personal blog (www.TardisCaptain.com) and the Seventh Fleet (www.SeventhFleet.org).

Roger Taylor was a big fan of Star Trek and science fiction in general. He was a member of a Star Trek fan club called Starfleet Command’s Seventh Fleet (www.SeventhFleet.org) and ran several games for his friends. This included the Decipher RPG entry for Star Trek, the Serenity RPG and Star Trek Adventures. He would homebrew various ships, races, equipment, and adventures for all three games. Some of these submissions ended up as articles on the Continuing Mission website.

Unfortunately, Roger was found passed away in his apartment on December 20, 2022, by his ex-wife after she could not reach him through phone or text. Roger had been experiencing health issues with his heart recently and it is believed this contributed to his passing. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses.

Roger will be missed.
